Welcome to the Healthy Families in Monash Website.
It’s important for children to learn good eating habits at an early age as these behaviours can shape their health and lifestyle later on in life. The Healthy Families in Monash website offers parents a comprehensive guide to healthy eating and being active.
The Greater Monash GP Network (GMGPN) was funded by the Department of Health and Ageing to conduct a pilot project titled Healthy Families in Monash. The project was funded by a Healthy Active Australia Community and Schools Grant.
The objective of the project was to assist parents to provide a healthy and active lifestyle for their children. An integral part of the project is a website which is available to all parents of primary school aged children in the City of Monash.
Parents of five local schools were invited to attend free workshops, providing practical and reliable information facilitated by local dietitians from Monashlink Community Health Service.
We hope that this website will provide your family with helpful resources, recipes, tips and ideas about healthy eating and being active. Feel free to contact us with comments or questions.
We would like to acknowledge the support and assistance of numerous organisations and individuals in helping this project. Please visit our acknowledgment page for a full list.
